John Miles, Acting Chief Counsel, Office of the Chief Counsel
Experience and Achievements
John Miles is the acting chief counsel in the Office of the Chief Counsel. He began this role on Jan. 20, 2025. Miles was previously the principal deputy chief counsel in the Office of the Chief Counsel. He began that position on Jan. 29, 2023. He had been acting in this role since Aug. 1, 2022.
Previously, Miles served as the deputy chief counsel for Field Management. Miles has also served as deputy chief of the Adjudications Law Division and as Service Center Counsel at the National Benefits Center of USCIS.
Education
Miles received his undergraduate degree in Spanish from Hendrix College and his Juris Doctor from the University of Arkansas Law School.
