USCIS Electronic Immigration System (ELIS)
On May 20, 2013, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) added the ability to pay the USCIS Immigrant Fee in USCIS ELIS, the Electronic Immigration System. As of February 1, 2013, any customer who receives an immigrant visa package at an overseas U.S. Embassy or Consulate must pay the USCIS Immigrant Fee in order to receive their Permanent Resident Card (commonly referred to as the Green Card) in the United States. Payment of the USCIS Immigrant fee in USCIS ELIS allows us to better serve our customers by simplifying and centralizing the payment process and by providing customers with up-to-date and detailed processing-status information. USCIS hosted two webinars on Thursday, June 6, 2013, to give interested individuals an opportunity to view the features of USCIS ELIS and ask questions about the system.
