Plaintiffs J.O.P., M.E.R.E., K.A.R.C., E.D.G., and L.M.Z. (the “Named Plaintiffs”), and the Class (defined in Section II of this Settlement Agreement) (collectively, “Plaintiffs”), and Defendants U.S. Department of Homeland Security (“DHS”); Alejandro Mayorkas, in his official capacity as Secretary of Homeland Security; U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (“USCIS”); Ur Mendoza Jaddou, in her official capacity as Director of USCIS; U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (“ICE”); and Patrick J. Lechleitner, in his official capacity as ICE Deputy Director and Senior Official Performing the Duties of the Director (collectively, “Defendants”) (together with the Plaintiffs, the “Parties”), by and through their attorneys, hereby enter into this Settlement Agreement, as of the date it is executed by all Parties hereto and effective upon final approval of the Court pursuant to Rule 23 of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.
This notice is to inform you that a final Settlement Agreement of a class action lawsuit, J.O.P. et al. v. U.S. Department of Homeland Security, et al., Case No. 8:19-cv-01944-SAG, has been approved by the United States District Court for the District of Maryland. The agreement is now effective, and the parties have begun the process of implementing its terms. Please read the attached Notice of Final Class Action Settlement for details about the agreement and how it may affect your rights.

This notice is to tell you about a proposed Settlement Agreement of a class action lawsuit, J.O.P. et al. v. U.S. Department of Homeland Security, et al., Case No. 8:19-cv-01944-SAG, pending in the United States District Court for the District of Maryland. The Court has granted preliminary approval of the proposed Settlement Agreement and has set a Final Approval Hearing (referred to as a Fairness Hearing in the proposed Settlement Agreement) to take place on November 25, 2024 at 10:00am ET in Courtroom 7C, Edward A. Garmatz U.S. Courthouse, 101 West Lombard Street, Baltimore, MD 21201, to decide if the proposed Settlement Agreement is fair, reasonable, and adequate.
