REMINDER: Form I-693 for Applicants with Pending Form I-485
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) reminds stakeholders that on April 4, 2024, we issued policy guidance in the USCIS Policy Manual stating that a Form I-693, Report of Immigration Medical Examination and Vaccination Record, that is properly completed and signed by a civil surgeon on or after Nov. 1, 2023, does not expire and may be used indefinitely as evidence.
This means that if you receive a Request for Evidence for Form I-693 for your pending Form I- 485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, you must provide the Form I-693, even if the visa has retrogressed.
We issued this update to improve the efficiency of Form I-485 processing throughout USCIS. If all necessary required evidence is in the record when a visa becomes available, we can pull cases more swiftly to adjudicate them on the merits.
This stakeholder message follows a related announcement issued on Dec. 2, 2024, requiring certain applicants filing Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, to submit Form I-693, Report of Immigration Medical Examination and Vaccination Record, with their Form I-485. If these applicants do not submit Form I-693, we may reject their Form I-485.
