P Nonimmigrant Visa Listening Session
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) invited you to participate in a listening session on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2022, from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. Eastern. The listening session was for stakeholders to provide feedback on modernizing the regulations governing P nonimmigrant petition adjudications. This is part of a series of listening sessions that USCIS is hosting to seek public input. USCIS is committed to public engagement and sessions such as these provide us with valuable feedback as we work to improve our programs.
Questions for consideration: While USCIS is interested in overall feedback regarding the P visa petition program, we would appreciate feedback on the following questions:
- Are there regulatory provisions or USCIS policies related to P nonimmigrants that have been a source of confusion and/or that have made petitioning for P nonimmigrants unnecessarily complicated or burdensome?
- Are there P adjudication issues for which the stakeholder community would benefit from additional guidance or clarity?
- What clarification is needed, if any, with respect to the eligibility and evidence requirements for the categories of P-1A athletes added by the 2006 COMPETE Act (that is, professional athletes, certain amateur athletes and coaches, and theatrical ice skaters)?
- What clarification is needed, if any, with regard to petitions filed by agents?
- Do you have any additional feedback on P adjudications?
