DED for Certain Liberians Extended and EADs Extended Through June 30, 2026
President Biden has issued a memorandum extending Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) for certain Liberians through June 30, 2026. The president has also directed the Secretary of Homeland Security to provide certain Liberians continued employment authorization through the same date. Nationals of Liberia (and individuals having no nationality who last habitually resided in Liberia) who were already covered under DED for Liberia under the president’s 2022 memorandum are employment authorized incident to DED.
DHS has automatically extended through June 30, 2026, the validity of DED-related Employment Authorization Documents (EADs) with a Card Expires date of March 30, 2020, Jan. 10, 2021, June 30, 2022, or June 30, 2024, and a Category of A11. Covered individuals may also apply for a new EAD that will be valid through June 30, 2026.
SAVE can verify DED and this employment authorization extension using information from the benefit applicant's EAD or other immigration documentation, even if it appears expired on its face. SAVE user agencies may need to institute additional verification in limited situations, such as when an initial SAVE response does not provide the expected result.
